**********************************************************************************************************************************

The Wakefield Recreation Department is located in the basement of the Town Hall.  Department hours are 9:00 a.m. - noon during the summer months starting the end of June until mid August.  The Department offers summer programs for children from age 3 through 13.  The signups are held early in June and are advertised in the Daily Item newspaper.  Look further on this page for this years schedule.  The Department also offers adult men's and women's softball which begins in May.  See the Sport List for names to contact.

All youth sport groups are run by individual people or associations.  The contact people are all listed on the Sport List.  We attempt to keep them updated, but in some cases you may reach the previous years chairperson and in that case, they can tell you who to call.

TENNIS COURTS:
Tennis courts are located at Veterans Field, Moulton Field, Mapleway Field and the High School.  Permits for hourly court time are avaiable from the Recreation Department, Monday - Friday from 9:00 a.m. - noon.  Tennis Fee is $10.00 per family.  Tennis I.D. are required for tennis permits.  Reservations for a court can be made through the Recreation Office only after a family membership has been obtained.  During the off season, courts are available on a first come, first served basis.

FIELD PERMITS:
Softball, baseball, and soccer fields are available on a very limited basis by obtaining a permit from the Recreation Office.  Wakefield sports fields are used almost exclusively by local sports organizations, which carry a very heavy schedule.  If you wish to request a permit, please do so in writing, listing your name or organization, the field you would like to use, and the dates and hours of your event.  Please send your request to:  Recreation Department, 1 Lafayette St., Wakefield, MA  01880 at least two weeks in advance of the event.  Call 781-246-6389 for more information.
